Those of you who know us will know that we have long been supporters of Britain’s best music festival by far – Supersonic! Held annually in England’s own Rock City – Birmingham – the festival is curated by the enormous brains and generous hearts of the ladies from Capsule (who also promoterregular gigs in Birmingham venues). And this year we will be there again, and we’ll be running a stall in the marketplace with a full array of our recent releases and back catalogue. We’ll also be holding a super MASSIVE SALE of old stock – including labels we don’t carry in our shop anymore, like Dischord, Neurot, Southern Lord, Constellation etc.
Supersonic is absolutely at the cutting edge of what is about to happen next in Interesting Music. Leaning heavily to the rock persuasion, but with several toes in the electronic and experimental pools, you can always count on seeing a band at Supersonic that your friends will be talking about NEXT year.
2012 is no exception. Some of the acts that we won’t be missing include Dylan Carlson (Earth frontman doing solo material including tracks from his Drcarlsonalbion session on Latitudes), Lichens (former 90 Day Men guitarist shows his multi-instrumental talents), Latitudes alumni Sir Richard Bishop and Bohren und der Club of Gore, Truth Cult brethren Oxbow Orchestra and Merzbow, awesome UK noise freaks Hey Colossus… the list is endless. There are a bunch of cool panels too, including one about the legendary Crass Records’ compilations Bullshit Detector.
